- We have a deer pen on the training course to desensitize your dog to deer and
to correct the dog who thinks deer are more fun to hunt than quail.
- Our 200 acre hunting preserve that extends our training area and offers
guided and unguided hunts close to the kennel.
- We also have a large exercise pen for puppies and boarders
Training
Our program is a 90 to 120 day program. Tom believes in developing a dog
rather than pushing too hard and ruining the dog. Depending on the
experience of the dog, the first 30 days may consist of work on a whoa post,
time on the chain gang, teaching the basic groundwork, and introduction to
the birds, gun and the e-collar on the flank. The next 30 days starts formal
training: steady on birds, whoa in the field, backing and the e-collar up to
the neck. Bird work is started on pigeons and finished on quail. The last 30
to 60 days give polish and reinforce the lessons learned in the first 60
days. Depending on the response and maturity of the dog, this may be done in
a solid stretch or a rest may be given in-between.

Training is done from foot and horseback on the 240 acres at the kennel.
Tom combines South Texas guiding experience with NBHA field trail standards
to develop a dog you are proud to hunt with.

Training is $500 a month, due at the beginning of each month of training.
Boarding
 Daily: $8 a day due when the dogs are picked up
Monthly board with exercise: $150 a month,
due at the beginning each month
Dogs are housed in 5x10 covered runs. Kennels and water buckets are kept
clean and bleached regularly. Dogs are fed only quality dog food. We
heartworm on the first of each month.
We require dog to be current on rabies, 7way vaccine, bordatella and worming
